Boycott advance sound fuzzy8/12/2023 ![]() ![]() When the tech looked and it and fixed it up, he said it sounded and looked great. Basically, I'm just wondering (and hoping it's not the case) that something went wrong on the drive home ie the hot CA sun melting something or me knocking something out of place. After I had it fixed, it sounded decent when it was nearly cranked at the tech's house, but then I brought it home and it sounded funny again with the master low. ![]() From then on, it still sounded funny even nearly halfway up. It's a confusing story but the day that happened, it really was a sudden change in sound and I was almost halfway up on the master then. So I'm wondering now if this is just something common with MV plexis and I just need to crank / mess with it more? I would do just that to find out, but in my neighborhood that's an absolute no-no so I'm going to have to wait until I get into a studio to crank it. ![]() I did notice that by raising the master and tweaking the tone a bit, it did help just a bit but not entirely. Then I take it home and play with the master volume no higher than 3 - and the sound came back! It literally sounds and feels like I'm playing a fuzz pedal. We were almost cranked and the spongey / fuzzy sound was mostly gone. While testing it at his house, he seemingly fixed it. He said the amp looked fine, but he changed valve 3 and tweaked something else minor I can't recall. It happened in the middle of a song, so I was certain something happened to it. I bought a Plexi clone a few months ago - two days into playing it, I noticed that the sound suddenly got really fuzzy and spongey (not unlike late '70s Billy Gibbons live). ![]()
